Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday and are refreshed and ready for lots of learning and fun filled activities this half term!
Our topic this half term is ‘Why are humans not like tigers?’ and we will be reading the books ‘The tiger who came for tea’ and ‘Bog Baby’. We will be writing about our favourite animals, facts on animals, describing animals, writing/sending out invitations and recounting a trip. So lots of fun ahead! Watch out for those wild and strange animals – they may visit us!
In Science we will be identifying and naming different animals, learning what the words carnivore, herbivore and omnivore mean and also naming and labelling the parts of our own bodies.
In Art and DT we will be drawing zoo animals, making animal masks and 3D animals out of plasticine/clay. So get your thinking caps on – what does your Bog Baby look like?
Please can I remind you that your child's reading book needs to be in school every day, so if we have the opportunity we can listen to your child read additionally throughout the week. Reading is important and if you have the time we would appreciate it if you could listen to your child read at home. Thank you.
PE day is Friday and we ask for your child to wear the correct PE Kit label it clearly. We will send PE Kits home each half term so they can be washed and returned after the holidays for the next half term.
Homework is given out Fridays and this half term it will be a list of spellings for your child to learn at home over the week. They will be tested Friday mornings on their spellings and then a new set of spellings will be given out and stuck in their homework books for the next week. Please make sure they hand their homework in on Wednesdays.
Please feel free to get in touch at any time. Miss Cornforth is available to speak to you on the door in the mornings and I am always available at the end of the school day.
