Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday and are refreshed and ready for lots of learning and fun filled activities this half term!
Our topic this half term is ‘Why are Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong brave people?’ and we will be reading the books ‘Man on the moon’ and ‘Pirate Cruncher’. We will be writing about what it would be like to be on the moon and a set of instructions so we can find the treasure hidden on our treasure maps. So lots of fun ahead! Will we be able to find all the treasure?
In Art and DT we will be designing and making our own spaceships, ships and treasure maps. So get your thinking caps on – what does your spaceship need so that it can get to space?
Please can I remind you that your child's reading book needs to be in school every day, so if we have the opportunity we can listen to your child read additionally throughout the week. Reading is important and if you have the time we would appreciate it if you could listen to your child read at home. Thank you.
PE day is Friday and we ask for your child to wear the correct PE Kit (white T-shirt, blue shorts and black pumps) and could you please label it clearly. We will send PE Kits home each half term so they can be washed and returned after the holidays for the next half term.
Homework is given out Fridays and this half term it will be a list of spellings for your child to learn at home over the week. They will be tested Friday mornings on their spellings and then a new set of spellings will be given out and stuck in their homework books for the next week. Please make sure they hand their homework in on Wednesdays.
Please feel free to get in touch at any time. Miss Cornforth is available to speak to you on the door in the mornings and I am always available at the end of the school day.
