Welcome to 3FL
This year, 3FL will be taught by Miss Lewis. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to talk to me at the end of the school day.
This half term we will be learning about the following topics:
English – Narrative based on our class novel ‘Dinosaur Cove’
Maths – Reading and writing numbers to 1,000, counting in multiples of 4, 8, 50 and 100, and formal methods of addition and subtraction
Science – Rocks, soils and fossils
Topic – Stone Age
French – Numbers 0-10 and greetings
RE – What are the rules?
Art – Cave paintings/fossil pencil drawings
Children will be given two pieces of homework a week; this usually consists of a piece of maths and some spellings to practise. The homework is sent out on a Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday. We will be reviewing the homework in class so if your child does not have their homework with them, they are missing out on valuable learning time and a chance to receive feedback. There will be a lunchtime homework club running on Mondays (12:45 – 13:15) if your child would like some help with their homework.
We ask that children read a minimum of three times per week and that this is evidenced by an adult signature in their reading record. Reading records are checked on a Wednesday morning.
The children will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays. They should have their PE kit, which consists of a white t-shirt, blue shorts and pumps/trainers, in school on these days. PE kits will be sent home at the end of every half term to be washed.
Children have received their usernames and passwords for the following websites: Bug Club, Times Table Rockstars and Mathletics. These websites are a helpful tool to boost confidence and developing a sound understanding of the basic skills.
