Welcome to 3FL
I hope everyone has enjoyed the break and the children are ready for a very busy term ahead.
W/C 14th January – Parents’ consultation week
Thursday 17th January – Parents’ Evening
Thursday 7th February – Year 3 parents’ assembly
This half term we will be learning about the following topics:
English – The children will be learning how to write their own set of instructions and information text
Maths – Fractions (unit fractions and counting in tenths), interpreting and presenting data in charts
Science – Animals
Topic – Victorian History
French – Days of the week and months of the year
RE – What do people believe about God?
Art – 3D masks
Children will be given two pieces of homework a week; this usually consists of a piece of maths and some spellings to practise. The homework is sent out on a Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday. We will be reviewing the homework in class so if your child does not have their homework with them, they are missing out on valuable learning time and a chance to receive feedback. There will be a lunchtime homework club running on Mondays (12:45 – 13:15) if your child would like some help with their homework.
We ask that children read a minimum of three times per week and that this is evidenced by an adult signature in their reading record. Reading records are checked on a Wednesday morning.
The children will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays. They should have their PE kit, which consists of a white t-shirt, blue shorts and pumps/trainers, in school on these days. PE kits will be sent home at the end of every half term to be washed.
