Welcome back after a lovely Easter Break!
This term we are looking plants in Science and the Rain forest in Geography. We'll be using this knowledge and will be writing adventure stories... Indiana Jones style, as well as learning how plants grow. Our Art and DT will be linked to this topic area as well. In Maths we will be working on Money, decimals, weight and right angled turns. Our mental Maths will be compliments to 100 and Place value work.
Individual Reading sessions will be everyday with Mrs Carling, so make sure your books are in school everyday!
With Mrs Machin , we will be doing group reads with follow up, independent written work . Reading books can still be changed on most days and children are still expected to read at home to an adult (if possible!) three times a week.
P.E will be on a Wednesday afternoon (1.15pm - 3,15pm) and will be taken by Mr Ellis. The children will be covering Cricket and athletics skills in these lessons and will need warm outdoor clothing. P.E lessons will take place on the play ground and field (if it is dry!).
Year 3 will be going SWIMMING every week until the summer holidays. A letter has been sent home informing you about the rules for swimming kit and goggles. These rules are from the swimming teachers and are strictly kept to. If you are struggling to sort your child out, let school know and we'll see if we can help. Our slot at the baths is on a Tuesday morning, but we will be back in time for their usual lunch time.
LADIES DAY Feb 2018
A big thank you to all the ladies who joined us on our "Ladies Day". It was lovely to see you all!
FAIRFIELD ROAD'S MATHS DAY
Our class recently took part in the whole school Maths day and we loved it!!
We investigated angles and symmetry and got to grips with some really tricky puzzles in the hall! Have a look at our photos to see how much we really enjoyed ourselves.
Our class had a wonderful time learning a new dance for Divali and then we made a mouth-watering mango lassi. Have a look at our photos!!
Sale Sharks and the healthy eating sandwich!
During the last half term we have worked with Jo from Sale Sharks. We have had training in Tag Rugby and we have learnt all about healthy eating too. On the final session we had to make a super healthy sandwich and our creative efforts were judged by two players from Sale Sharks!! Anoosh and Rayah were our champion sandwich makers and they received a genuine Sale Shark scarf as their prize!! We also got to ask the player a range of questions about their careers so far and their training at Sale Sharks. Our final treat was a trip to watch them play a real match at the stadium. Some of us took our parents and had a brilliant time....very cold though!!
We would just like to say.......A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT SALE SHARKS FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN.....WE LOVED IT!!
NO PENS DAY!!
We managed to do a whole day in school without pens! We had great fun doing PE, IT and even Maths without picking up a pencil! (WE DID DO WORK THOUGH!!)
Measuring perimeters in Maths made loads of sense because we actually did it for real!!
