I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas holiday and are now ready to start 2018!!
This term we are looking at Kings and Queens and later the Victorians and the Industrial Revolution. Lots of our English work will be based on this as well. In Maths we will be working on some more mental maths skills (8x, adding and subtracting 1,10,100 to a 3 digit number), we'll also be doing some more work on standard addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and will be developing this into word problems and problem solving.
Our Science topic all term is Magnets and forces , and hopefully we'll get to link this to our D andT topic and make some magnet based games.
Individual Reading sessions will be on Mondays and Fridays, with class Guided Reading sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Reading books can still be changed on most days and children are still expected to read at home to an adult(if possible!) three times a week.
For the first half term, P.E will be on a Wednesday morning (9.00am - 10.20am) and will be taken by Mr Ellis. They will be covering Multi skills in these lessons and will need warm outdoor clothing. P.E lessons will usually take place on the playground and not the field, so foot wear should stay dry and mud free this time!!
NO PENS DAY!!
We managed to do a whole day in school without pens! We had great fun doing PE, IT and even Maths without picking up a pencil! (WE DID DO WORK THOUGH!!)
Measuring perimeters in Maths made loads of sense because we actually did it for real!!
Our class had a wonderful time learning a new dance for Divali and then we made a mouth-watering mango lassi. Have a look at our photos!!
Sale Sharks and the healthy eating sandwich!
During the last half term we have worked with Jo from Sale Sharks. We have had training in Tag Rugby and we have learnt all about healthy eating too. On the final session we had to make a super healthy sandwich and our creative efforts were judged by two players from Sale Sharks!! Anoosh and Rayah were our champion sandwich makers and they received a genuine Sale Shark scarf as their prize!! We also got to ask the player a range of questions about their careers so far and their training at Sale Sharks. Our final treat was a trip to watch them play a real match at the stadium. Some of us took our parents and had a brilliant time....very cold though!!
We would just like to say.......A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT SALE SHARKS FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN.....WE LOVED IT!!
