HOMEWORK

Homework will  usually be given weekly and will consist of:

  1. Reading - if possible please can your child read to an adult at least once a week so that someone can check their understanding of vocabulary and story line.
  2. Spellings - these will be set on a Friday to be tested the following Thursday morning. They will be taken from the Key words for Year 4 (National Curriculum). Occasionally they will include revision words from the Year 3 list.
  3. Maths - this will usually be a worksheet on the topic we have worked on during the week/ Also we will be learning various mental skill/ facts that are required for this year group and these will be sent home on a sheet to learn.

As always, thank you for your support and should you have any questions please come and see me after school.

The Autumn term has flown by and already we are in 2017!

Class 4SM worked really hard and completed some great work last term.

Spring Term 2017

This term we will be looking at topic such as Recycling in Science and Fairtrade products in Geography. In English we will be trying to persuade you to give us chocolate and in Maths we will be getting to grips with co-ordinates, ratio and 2D shape, as well as using our knowledge of +, -, x and ÷ to work out 2 step word problems.

During the second half term, our Geography topic changes to Manchester and why it is a cool place to live! In Science we will be putting our coats on and checking out the wildlife near to school and in English we will be writing biographies about L.S.Lowry, the famous Manchester painter. In Maths we will look at angles, data in graphs and even area and perimeter! Cooking with Fairtrade chocolate and making cake boxes will link to Easter themed ideas.

If you have any problems with any of the areas of the curriculum, please call in and I'm sure we will be able to sort it out!

I look forward to chatting with you at Parent's evening on the 17th and 19th of January.

Mrs Machin smiley
