Admission Arrangements
Admission to Nursery
At Fairfield Road Primary School, we have one intake into Nursery each year in September. Children can join our Nursery as long as they have their fourth birthday during the year that they start Nursery . For example , if your child is 3 years old in November, they would join our nursery the following September. If your child is 3 years old in July, they would start the forthcoming September.
We offer 15 hours nursery places (8.45 am to 11.45 am) and 30 hours places (8.45 am - 3.15 pm). For further details regarding the 30 hours and to check eligibility please visit the Childcare Choices website.
We have adopted the Tameside Council policy for nursery admissions and a copy can be viewed here. It is important to note that admission to our nursery does not automatically guarantee admission to full time school.
How to apply for a place
To apply for your child's nursery place simply click here to download the form. Alternatively, paper copies are available from the school office.
Letters regarding nursery places for September 2023 will be sent out to parents on Monday 6th March 2023 and parents need to accept the place by Tuesday 21st March 2023
Admission to School
Children start school in the September of the school year in which they will become 5 years of age, which means most children are 4 years old when they start school.
Children born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 are eligible to start school in September 2023.
We follow the Tameside Council Admission policy and all applications for places in Reception class are dealt with by the Admissions Department at Tameside Council. The school remains neutral in this process.
Parents are asked to submit their application online via www.tameside.gov.uk/schools/admissions. If you need any assistance making the application or need access to a computer, please let us know, as we can help you with this. We recommend reading the 'Starting Out' booklet produced by Tameside Council as this explains the full admissions process and also details the over subscription criteria used to allocate places if we have more applications than places available.
If you are not offered a place at the school(s) of your choice you will have the right to appeal against the decision. For information on school appeals, please visit our school appeals page here.
