Governing Body
At Fairfield Road Primary School, we have a committed group of Governors from a variety of backgrounds including the Headteacher, parents of children who currently attend our school, local education professionals, members of the community and staff.
Their responsibilities include:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school;
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
- Ensuring that the curriculum meets the requirements set out in the National Curriculum;
- Ensuring policies are in place and reviewed regularly;
- Having an overview of the general maintenance and running of the school.
Governors meet six times per year where all aspects of school life - pastoral, financial and curriculum are considered and reported upon. There are two committees: Finance and Personnel and Curriculum and Standards. Governors' Meetings are all minuted by the Clerk to the Governing Board.
Governors are elected or appointed to serve for a four year term of office. At the end of their term, Governors may be re-elected or re-appointed. A staff Governor ceases to be a Governor if they leave the school.
