Year 1

                            Welcome to Year One!

Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a fantastic summer holiday and are refreshed and ready for lots of fun filled activities and learning this half term!

Here are a few messages you need to be aware of.

  • The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3pm.
  • Please drop off and pick up your child from the KS1 playground and from the relevant gate.
  • We are continuing to learn through continuous provision for the first half term so your child will need waterproof clothing for the forest school area. This will need to be a waterproof coat and a pair of wellies which are both clearly labelled in a bag.
  • PE day is Wednesday and we ask for your child to wear the correct PE Kit (white T-shirt, blue shorts and black pumps) and could you please label it clearly. We will send PE Kits home each half term so they can be washed and returned after the holidays for the next half term.
  • Please see the attached powerpoint on the transition in to Year 1 and also the attached letter for more information about Year 1.

Our topic this half term is 'What is our local area like?' and we will be reading different versions of the book 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We will be writing instructions, labels and captions and having a go at writing our own traditional tale about Little Red Riding Hood. Lots of fun ahead! We will also be venturing out into the local environment to see what Little Red Riding Hood would like / not like about it. Do you think she would like to go on our playground? Would she like a ride on a canal boat?

Please feel free to get in touch at any time. Mrs Birchenall or Mrs Jackson are available to speak to you on the door in the mornings and we are always available at the end of the school day. Looking forward to meeting you all.
