Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a fantastic summer holiday and are refreshed and ready for lots of fun filled activities and learning this half term!
Our topic this half term is 'What is our local area like?' and we will be reading different versions of the book 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We will be writing instructions, labels and captions and having a go at writing our own traditional tale about Little Red Riding Hood. Lots of fun ahead! We will also be venturing out into the local environment to see what Little Red Riding Hood would like / not like about it. Do you think she would like to go on our playground? Would she like a ride on a canal boat?
In Science we will be looking at different birds and plants and even designing and making our own bird feeders! So get your thinking caps on!
In Art and DT we will be painting pictures of Little Red Riding Hood, making masks, sketching and experimenting with leaf prints. Great fun ahead!
Please can I remind you that your child's reading book needs to be in school every day, so if we have the opportunity we can listen to your child read additionally throughout the week. Reading is important and if you have the time we would appreciate it if you could listen to your child read at home. Thank you.
PE day is Tuesday and we ask for your child to wear the correct PE Kit (white T-shirt, blue shorts and black pumps) and could you please label it clearly. We will send PE Kits home each half term so they can be washed and returned after the holidays for the next half term.
Homework is given out Fridays and this half term it will be a list of spellings for your child to learn at home over the week. They will be tested Friday mornings on their spellings and then a new set of spellings will be given out and stuck in their homework books for the next week. Please make sure they hand their homework in on Wednesdays.
Please feel free to get in touch at any time. Miss Cornforth or Mrs Jackson are available to speak to you on the door in the mornings and we are always available at the end of the school day. Looking forward to meeting you all.
