Children love to hear adults reading stories aloud with verve, expression and voices. Listening to the same stories time and time again is great for children. It boosts their memory and motivates them to retell the stories themselves!

Love to Listen: KS2

For the last decade, BBC Radio 2 have ran the 500 Word competition. The competition gives young people and teenagers the opportunity to write a story and win amazing prizes. Each year, the top 50 stories are read aloud by an actor and stored on the 500 Word website. 

 

Why not listen to some of the winners, runner-up entries and top 50 stories. There is a story to suit everyone!

Perfect Podcasts

On the commute to work; whilst traveling long distance or simply as a way to relax at home, many adults listen to podcasts and audio books to pass the time. There are lots of fantastic, fun and free podcasts for children to enjoy too. Be in quest stories, science, sports or nature, there is something out there to suit the tastes and likes of your child!
